I think this is an excellent starter kit for anyone looking to learn how to finish 3D prints. I wish I’d had a kit like this when I first started 3D printing two or three years ago.I’ve mostly used 3D printing to create tools and gadgets for use around the house, and getting a polished appearance for my prints was never a high priority. However, I have been wanting to learn more about this aspect of the hobby, so I got this kit as a way to get started.The kit includes a well-thought-out collection of tools and materials. The tools are good quality—not top-tier, but practical and functional. For preparing prints for painting, the set includes a side-cutter, two files, an X-Acto-style blade, a brush, cutting mat, and a useful assortment of sandpaper and sanding sponges.I really like the selection of painting supplies included in this kit. It comes with several detail paint brushes. It also has a set of practical-sized bottles of basic paint colors, designed for you to mix your own palette. This setup allows for more flexibility than buying a large set of small pre-mixed paint bottles.Instruction booklets are not usually very useful, but I was surprised by how helpful this one is. The English is clear and practical. It offers guidelines for preparing the model (cutting off strings, sanding bumps, etc) as well as how to mix base colors to achieve desired shades. If you haven’t already seen it, the “Elegoo 3D Paint Kit User Manual” video on the product’s Amazon page is worth a look. It’s a nice overview of how to use the kit effectively.Bottom line: I already own most of the tools included in this kit (cutter, files, etc.), but this is still a useful purchase for me if only for the painting tools and supplies. If I knew what I was doing, I could buy the individual products, but for me it’s nice to have a kit of everything I need plus a well-written getting-started guide. Some people might prefer buying a large set of paint colors to mixing their own pallets, and this kit is probably not a good choice for them.

A really solid starter kit at a nice price.
This is an excellent starter kit if you’re thinking about post-processing and painting your 3D prints.It’s not an ultra-high-quality kit; you could easily assemble a kit of higher-quality tools at your local craft store… but you’d pay a LOT more. But it’s also not a box of cheap crap, either. It’s decent. And at $40, it’s a good price for what you get.Take the gloves: a truly cheap kit would give you those polyethelene-film foodservice gloves that tear if you look at them funny. If you were assembling a high-end kit, you’d get nitrile gloves in the right size for your hands. This kit includes a generous pile of decent-quality loose latex gloves. As long as you don’t have a latex allergy, you’re fine.The brushes are better quality than you’d expect. The paint, while basic, is certainly up to the task; it’s standard primary-color acrylic craft paint. You get a good range of sandpaper, some decent files, a reasonable set of flush cutters… the only place where the kit comes up a little short is the “wet palette” papers. Only two are included, and they’re consumable.It’s an excellent gift. It has everything you need to get started and do a few models and discover if this is something you’re into. If you are, you’ll go buy new and better stuff as the need arises, knowing it’s worth spending even more. If you aren’t, well, now you know, and you’ve still got some useful stuff like the flush cutters and cutting mat and knife… and you didn’t spend so much that you regret learning it wasn’t for you.Recommended for anyone curious about post-processing with acrylic paint.

Great way to figure out if painting is your deal
I use to paint models many years ago but hadn’t touched it in a long time. In all the time that’s passed I don’t have any of my stuff but I did recently get a resin printer and started playing around with printing models, but you know they are pretty dull looking for the most part. Here comes the fix for that. This kit covers nearly everything you need to get a start at painting your models and that’s kewl. It’s kewl because maybe you don’t know if painting is for you but you’re going to find out easier with a full kit like this.The kit isn’t full of high end gear and if you decide you like painting your models you’re going to replace the paints, some higher end brushes, but otherwise you’ve got a good set of gear for painting.If you decide painting isn’t for you or if you don’t know if the person might love painting but they just got a resin printer and you want a thoughtful gift that goes along with it – you got it all and for a really good price that you don’t feel bad about spending on something you didn’t get into and something that comes across as a thoughtful gift without being too expensive that it comes off as awkward.It’s a good kit they put together, with thought, and it’s worth a try for yourself or if this falls into the right option for a present.

I shouldn’t really be surprised at the quality of this kit coming from a 3d Printer company, but the quality of this kit does make me consider the brand a little more proudly. Elegoo has been a go-to for my FDM printing for a while, and with a consideration toward resin, I’ll definitely be digging a little deeper before purchasing with the detail on this kit.I will say that the “model holder” thing feels where corners were cut, as most everything else feels pretty nice. Personally, I’d prefer a set of pliers (and the clippers that are included) to replace the model holder, but I know some people enjoy the holder things.
