Very useful for making straight, consistent cuts in foamboard.
This is perfect for making straight cuts in foam board at 90 degree and 45 degree angles.I have done lots of things with foamboard using utility knives and hobby knives, but getting straight cuts is much easier with this, since it can ride along a straightedge and cut at a consistent depth. The adjustable depth is great for when you do not want to cut all the way through, and with careful layout it is not hard to cut out v shaped notches in the foamboard so that you can have surfaces connected at 90 degrees without having to line up the edges afterwards.

Good for hobby; not for thick foam board
This cutter is designed to be used against a straight edge. However after getting all ready, I quickly realized this is a left-handed design. It’s made to run against the left edge of a straight edge. You could take off the bevel and run it down the right edge, but you’d be 3/16” off of the edge due to the blade being held on the right side of the cutter. Is this a major flaw? Well ~10% of human population probably won’t think so. For the rest of us? Not an optimal design. I really wonder about design features like this and “What were they thinking?”Whatever, it’s usable as-is despite some awkwardness for rightees, but my bigger complaint is that it just doesn’t cut deep enough. Fully extended, the blade is ~5/8”. I needed to cut 1.5” foam board and using this tool requires a pass from each side, plus an additional pass with some other knife.I’m sure it’s fine for 1/2” or smaller board, and for hobby scale cuts & bevels.

Worth every penny
this thing is amazing, I wish I’d had it years ago. I’ve been using classic x-acto knives my whole life, literally passed down to me from my graphic designer mom who was doing actual paste-up in the 80s before photoshop even existed. But I wish I had this thing all along. Your mileage may vary, but for me I got this thing thinking it would be an “as-seen-on-TV” thing where it didn’t work they way I hoped. It’s sturdy and powerful, easy to adjust and replace the blade, super good for me to grip to do delicate works as I have large hands. The angled side brace thing makes cutting feel extremely stable and clean, and you can flip it to do an angled cut. 10/10 or more, every time I use this thing I look at it and say out loud “you are a good device, hot damn”

Pour des coupes droites et à 45 degré .Pour ceux qui débute . pour Moi personnellement cette article est indispensable avec le ”rail” de meme marque , la règle pesante et antidérapante permet de s’y appuyer ,mais elle ne permet pas d etre attaché à celle-ci tel un wagon de train , avec la pratique les coupes deviennent belles et rapides à faire . ne pas oublier de se garder un panneau de foam en-dessous . Moi je l’ai utilisé avec Foam 5 mm
