Makes Cleanup a Breeze with Less Odor
If you 3D print with resin (AKA SLA printing) then you’ll appreciate the cleanup work that goes into your printed parts and build plate/resin vat after your prints are done. This was my first time trying out a water washable resin from Cretbee and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Until somewhat recently, most resin printers required the use of Isopropyl alcohol or similar solvents for post cleaning of parts and build plate. With this stuff you can dip it in a water bath and use a soft brush to remove the excess resin. To be clear, although water washable, it still has toxicity and should be handled like regular resins. Do not pour this down a sink as it could clog your plumbing or damage a septic system. After printing, I’ll typically drain as much of the resin back into the bottle being sure to use a fine filter to remove any unwanted particles. I also have a disposal area outside for contaminated water that is exposed to sunlight and will neutralize any uncured resin. As per the instructions, it is best to limit water exposure to less than 3mins when cleaning, especially when working with thinner structures as extended exposure does have a softening affect on thin parts. As with any other resins, the parts will require some post curing time in a UV chamber or out in the sun.As far as the printer setting go, Cretbee has suggested values but I will typically run a test print to see how things actually come out. On my Longer Orange 30 machine, I tried the 6 second exposure time for a 0.025mm layer, but found that lighter support structures were too fine at the tips. Increasing this to 8 seconds or higher seemed to solve that issue. You can also try increasing the layer thickness but although the recommended range is 0.03-0.1mm, I still had success at my printer’s finest resolution of 25µm. The smoothness of the print is still superb and it captures every detail, especially at the lower layer thickness. I had no issues with it bonding to my build plate and they came off after printing with only a little effort. I’d say that this ABS-like resin is accurate in that it does have some flexibility when cured. Depending on the structure of the print, you may want to leave some supports attached for the post cure and perhaps even until you’re ready to paint, to reduce the chance of warping. I have noticed that thinner parts are a little more brittle than some other resins that I’ve used but if I know something is going to be put under more structural distress, I’ll use an appropriate resin for that part. As of now, I am favoring the water washable resins for most of my 3D prints as the cleanup is so much easier along with less odor, and at around $22 for a 1000g bottle, this gets five stars.

Water washable has its benefits.
A good resin if you’re sensitive to traditional resins or don’t have access to IPA. While the smell is less than traditional resins, it’s not devoid of the same toxins so make sure you wear the proper PPE while working with this. Gloves and a respirator ideally. I ran a quick calibration print and dialed in my settings and it’s been fine printing so far. Make sure you don’t pour your waste water down the drain. It can create all sorts of problems. I let it sit in a 5 gallon bucket outside to cure and evaporate.
