Saves a lot of time with the rotary cutters.
Love this for sewing and crafting. Should have bought it years ago. It does slide on the table. Needs grippers.

It’s sooo nice to have a cutting mat this large!
I was worried about ordering this mat—some of the reviews mentioned they had difficulty cutting on it, but the price was so good I took the chance—and I’m glad I did! My fabrics cut beautifully (as long as the blades are sharp, of course); I only need to apply a light firm pressure; the fabric cuts cleanly and I’ve seen no scoring so far. The side with the numbers and grid is less “pebbled” than the back side, more of a matte finish, but I like that better for a clean cut. And it’s so great to be able to spread things out, and not have to reposition my old 2×3 mat over and over…This is a much thicker (about 2 mm or 3/32”) and nicer mat than my old Fiskars one, which was less resilient, harder to cut on, and prone to scarring.I’m sure this fits the matching craft table nicely, but my cutting table is an old flat door—which is actually about 3 inches narrower than the mat…but I have a cheap-and-easy fix for that: I got 4 of those 1/8 inch thick white foam core art boards at the dollar store, taped them together on the bottom and slid them under the mat, cutting off the excess. I slid the narrow excess strips of the art boards under the other boards at the edge of the table, to provide a little more support…and that’s enough so that I can still cut on the mat to the edge, as well as providing a nice bright white underlayer for the cutting mat. It also provides a nice resilience to the mat while I’m cutting. The first photo shows me lifting up the mat to show the art foam boards underneath. It didn’t take long to flatten out after unrolling; I just unfurled it and put a few chairs on top of it to hold it flat, and left it overnight (which was probably overkill). Neither I nor my daughter—who has a famously sensitive nose—detected any bothersome odors. If you need to keep it rolled up, try the clever yoga-strap hack used by another Amazon reviewer (check out the photos and you’ll find it).If you’re on the fence about buying this, I suggest you give it a whirl—you’re not going to find a good mat this size for less than 55 bucks…I know, I tried! 😉

Love this mat!
This mat fits well on my dining room table. The numbers and markings are clear and the mat lays flat. I read several reviews and almost didn’t order it, but I’m glad I did. Using this mat helps me to pin and cut fabric easily and efficiently.

I’m a little disappointed but overall it does the job
I am a little disappointed….A lot of reviews were saying the self healing was so cool and great and you can’t even see where you cut but I’ve used this for a total of about 5 hours and you can see and feel almost all the lines where I cut. It’s not that big of a deal because the whole purpose for this is to keep the table from getting cut and it does the job. I just have to say I got a lot smaller Fiskars cutting board a few years ago ( which I used SO MUCH) and it’s still in very good condition ( almost better than my new one) for how much I’ve used it and it’s double sided and I just like the materials used better on that one. This one is like thick hard Plastic. Anyways it does do the job like I said before, I’m just hoping it last for a long time for the money I spent on it. ( oh also the corners do stick off of the table a little so if you walking by it can get ya)

Measurements are not right!
I like the size. However, the measurements are off. Holding a tape measurements to it, you can see it’s a hair off at the one inch. As you get higher, the off amount grows. By the time you get to 2′, it’s 1/8 ” off. This makes a big difference when you’re sewing 1/4″ seams!

Exactly what I wanted, at a great price.
I purchased this to protect an antique oak drop leaf table that I use in my sewing room.I will not be cutting directly on it but wanted to protect the table from pins and scissors. After reading several reviews saying that it wouldn’t flatten out, I was a little concerned about it. But after searching for mats in this size and finding the prices to be considerably higher, I decided to give it a try.It came rolled up, of course.I unrolled it and layed upside down out in the driveway with a small board stretched across each end and let the warmth of the sun relax it. It sat there about two hours. It’s early October, the sun isn’t that hot right now. When I returned it had completely relaxed and was flat as a pancake. Not a ripple or a wave in sight. It was 3/8″ too wide for the table and needed the corners rounded to fit.Using a straight edge, some good clamps and a nice sharp utility knife I was able to trim it to fit and it looks great. Though I don’t think I’d recommend it for use with a cutting wheel. It’s slick. And it took me a bit to come up with a way to keep it from sliding around on the table without damaging the table itself. I remembered I had a box of these little adhesive craft dots. They squish down nice and flat, barely noticable under the mat. It’s not going anywhere now.Don’t be afraid to give it a try. It’s a nice, big mat!

perfect size
completely covers my new table, I forgot you cannot use it as a cutting mat only measuring. but I didn’t cut deep at all with my blade.
