Never cut mats before but this tool made it easy.
Works well. Easy to use if you comprehend the concepts. It cuts at an angle with an angled blade. If you carefully follow the instructions you will end up with a perfectly cut mat the first time. Adjustable in many ways, great value.

    Easy to use
The unit is well built and sturdy, there is a learning curve to using it effectively. Be careful when you first use it, the blade is very sharp. The blade is inside the unit but emerges as soon as you press the large knob. The depth of cut scale on the blade sleave is not very accurate, so several test cuts on waste material are required to get the correct depth.

Great product -you will not be disappointed.
Love this mat cutter. Needed a couple mats for some pictures around the house. Local craft store was fairly pricey on them cutting them. Was able to purchase the matting boards and cut them myself. Very easy and simple to use. Highly recommend.

    Takes practice. Hard to use.
Pretty tricky to use. Going to take practice. The marks on the sides do help you with lining up. But there’s no way to really measure where to place it so it cuts at exactly the right place. You have to start slow and eye ball it. It’s fine for infrequent use and if you have a lot of time and patience. If I could have afforded I would have bought a higher quality one with a guide edge.

    Not worth the money
This cutter was a waste of money. I read in the reviews that some users felt there was a learning curve, so I was prepared to have to practice for it to look right. I have cut many mats for frames using a knife, but this cutter never worked well. Yes, it cuts on a 45 degree angle, but having to cut each line multiple times ended with every line being somewhat jagged. It’s not sharp, smooth or easy to control. Lining up for each cut and hitting the starting spot and the ending spot was not very accurate. If you’re hoping for DIY professional looking mats, I do not recommend this.

    Works well
Needed to modify a purchased framed mat to fit my daughter’s 30cmx40cm diamond painting. Didn’t want to pay a fortune to have it matted and figured I won’t need a mat cutter many times in my life so I went with this option over professionally framing or an expensive tool. I drew the necessary cut lines on back of mat with pencil. Laid down a cutting mat, my purchased mat, and then a heavy metal ruler. After determining where the ruler needed to be placed, I clamped the ruler down to my kitchen island so that my pencil lines were between the visible area of the tool. Pressed down on tool to confirm the blade hit the mat on the line. Used screw adjustment to adjust the blade to the necessary depth and pressed down and toward mat as I cut. I didn’t practice and it did wander a bit (more when I tried to push down with two hands than when I used one to steady the myself and one to do the cut) but it isn’t noticeable from my finished work. Worked as I expected and am happy to be able to frame the non-US standard 30cmx40cm diamond paintings my daughter has taken a liking to.

This Is The Mat Cutter You Want!
Wow. Wow wow wow! I’ve tried multiple mat cutters from both Logan and Fletcher and never had an easy time of it. A “good” mat worth using was always a compromise and almost never the first effort.I did one practice cut with the NT cutter. I then cut two mats, first try, no flaws, no compromises. Draw the window the back of the board; mark a cutting guide 3/8″ outside your window; set up your straight edge; and go. The NT blade lets you cut both directions; set the depth gauge, and you know when your cut is complete.Cutting mats has always been a trial for me. Now, I’m actually looking forward to my next framing projects.

Practice, practice, practice! There is a definite learning curve, but it works.
The base of the cutter is curved, so you need to concentrate on keeping even pressure centered on the hand knob. If you rock forward or back, it will cut crooked. Once you master that, it can do some nice work. I matted 12 pieces of art in various sizes. I started with the smaller mats first and it gave me the practice needed before moving to the large pieces.

    Fuerte, preciso, seguro y eficaz.

  10. EGGI

Es ist nicht so einfach einen Passpartout schön zu schneiden. Trotz diesem Tool.

  11. FinstP

Excellent mat cutter. Certainly one of the best I’ve used for the money. Make sure you understand the instructions. The cutting line marks show what you really want – where the cut ends, not where it begins!

Es una herramienta que le añadirá valor a mis acuarelas. Gracias.Fácil de usar.

This works great. Was super choked I could never resize matting because you don’t get that nice little 45 degree cut. But now I can. Little try and error required to gettin the hang of how to place the device while holding a straight edge so definitely practice on scrap material first
