Not the most fun, but not bad, don’t approve of the age rating unless you get rid of the cards.
A relatively easy game to learn, though it can be a little confusing to start out. I had to read the rules a few times to get everything down. The board and chips feel high quality, though I don’t like that you have to peel a piece of plastic off of both sides of 20 chips, we got through probably 5 and played like that. It comes in a nice box and the board is a nice fabric endeavor that is way better than paper boards that come in much more expensive games. The chips seem to be laser cut acrylic with printed designs. I think they look and feel great. They could have put the designs on both sides though as we found ourselves flipping the top piece after stacking just to see the number easier.I wouldn’t say the game is hard, but it is hard to get behind, it feels like a weird mix between checkers and… something. I did like the strategy of figuring out whether or not it would benefit you more to use a higher or lower number to attack a stack, though it is a bit weird that you can only move if you’re able to attack? At least that’s how we played, it wasn’t super clear in the rules. It just felt too fast and like it was more of a luck of the mistake kind of game. It mentions setting your opponent up in the BGG description, but I don’t see that happening much if at all with how short and simple of a game it is. It also seems like some of the rules were just added so that it doesn’t get too crazy rather than actually trying to add strategy or benefits to the game.Overall, I, as an adult, don’t love this game, I’d give it a 2-3 star, I wouldn’t play it unless someone asked me. Though, I do think it would be fun for kids who have graduated past the chutes and ladders phase and want something with a bit more strategy. The one star is docked from the plastic stuck to every chip in the game and I would give it a 4 to 4.5 IF there wasn’t scantily clad women on the cards. They say it’s for 6+, but I didn’t want to see that as an adult. Sure, they’re drawn/animated, sure they’re not THAT bad, but still, I’d like a game with fully dressed people for my 6 yo to play rather than this. I know it’s probably accurate to the Luchador culture and a pretty close representation of that in an animated card format, but I wouldn’t let my kid go watch that either. All in all, it’s good quality, not the worst instructions, but also not the most fun to me and I didn’t see the necessity for the cards to look like that.

Fun strategy game that young kids can grasp
My two youngest have really been getting into board and card games, so I’m always on the lookout of games that will be fun for everybody. Personally, I like a game that requires at least a little bit of thought, but that can be tricky when trying to find something to play with a 6 and 8 year old.Luckily, this game checked all the boxes. We tried it out for the first time earlier this week, and the next night my 8 year old asked if we could play again. All in all, we’ve done 6 games and each of us has won twice. I haven’t pulled any punches either, so the game is definitely something that the kiddos can grasp. For the components, there are really three groups- The board: This is made from a light cloth. I wouldn’t think it would hold up to too much roughness, but its very portable.- The tiles: These come in two colors and are see through. There are a series of icons on one side that also have a mirrored copy, so they are readable when flipped over.- The cards: We haven’t played with these yet, but they unlock ‘super powers’ that each player can use to spice up the game. And these aren’t small powers, they literally break the rules of the game (but just for the one player). I’m excited to try playing with these at some point, but I’m waiting until we’ve got a few more rounds of the base game under our belt. The play consists of sliding the tiles (your luchadores) around the board, then you ‘lucha’ or jump onto an opponents tile. If your tile has a lower numeric value, it just goes on top. If your tile has a higher value, then it goes on top and the entire stack flips (possible due to the see through tiles and mirrored iconography). If they are the same, then you get to decide which you want to happen. This continues until no more moves can be made. Once that point is reached, then scoring is just multiplying the size of the stack by the numeric value on the top tile.I haven’t fully figured out what strategies work with this one yet, but I love the concept. This is a abstract game technically, but there is something very thematic about luchadores jumping on and flipping their opponents around the right. The entire game comes in a box that is very portable. I plan on this being one of my cabin games since it takes up very little space in a bag/suitcase, it has been a blast to play so far, and its really easy to explain. The instructions fit on the equivalent of 5 note cards. My only complaints are…- The numeric iconography on the tiles is a little hard to read. My brain keeps swapping the 5 and 2 around. This can be remedied by using the ‘pips’ that are also visible.- My kids found an edge case that wasn’t really covered by the rules and I had to make an executive decision based on the other rules. The rules state that each player can have only one stack of 3, 4, and 5 tiles. However, my son wanted to jump to the top of a stack of 4 and flip it. However, my daughter already had a stack of 5. I made the call that my son could make the move, but the stack wouldn’t flip.Overall, this has been a solid game to add to our collection and my kids have really been loving it.
TripleLSupreme –
Quick two player strategy game with replayability via special ability cards.
Lucha Lucha 345 is a two player strategy game that takes five to twenty minutes to play. The rules are fairly simple though some of the terminology can be a bit confusing as it tries to stay on theme of Mexican wrestling. Each player takes turns moving their tokens and wrestling an opponents token with either the aggressor token being on top or the token stack flipping. This adds some interesting strategies since there is a limit to how many stacks of each height are allowed. The game ends when no legal moves can be made and then you count up the scores based on the stacks. For more advanced gameplay there is a deck of cards with characters and special abilities. Playing with the cards allows each player to choose one character to play as with the special ability. The game is nice and compact and takes up very little table space. The board itself is a piece of thin, but nice cloth material. The tokens are see through acrylic allowing you to see the values of the tokens from either side which is needed for the gameplay.I will have to remove one star due to obnoxious packaging. Each of the 20 acrylic pieces requires the removal of the plastic film on each side. This film is a pain to remove and adds a good 30 minutes to the first play of the game.
