Not easy
I guess the reviews that say this is easy are from people who innately know how to cut a mat. I’m just learning so I’ve messed up two mats, but they’re for my 6 year old grandson, he won’t notice. Have to figure out how to keep the straight edge from moving (T-square in my case) even a hair. Though I was careful about the start and stop lines there was still some very small over shoot.The mat knife is great and I think I’ll get the bevel after a couple of more mats. I can see why they give you extra blades with each… if they were a bit dull they would not work.Would need a lot of practice if I was doing this to show or sell art.

When you first open it, there are 3 blades loaded in the cutter, you need to take two out.Working just fine.

I bought this to cut a straight edge on my Matte boards. But I soon realized it’s not sharp enough to cut through the boards I use. Don’t waste your money.

Logan mat Knife Works Perfectly
Absolutely does the job that you bought them to do. An additional blade is included, though, I cut 6 mats with no noticeable dulling of the first blade. Would totally recommend.

Very easy to cut mats and foamboard with this knife. Well-made and sturdy. Very pricey for what it is, but worth the money.

This knife is awesome. I am a paper crafter. Usually with an xacto knife it takes a few swipes to cut heavy card stock. This knife, one swipe and it is done. I am very impressed with it.

Item comes with 3 blades so remember to open up and separate the extra blades and put them safely away. They are extremely sharp so ensure that little hands cannot get them.Great item, when I assembled it first I thought I had something wrong as the mat cut position seemed to be very small but when I tried it out on a mat I found it did an excellent job with a very clean cut just barely scoring the off cut mat I put underneath to protect work table.I had bought another cheaper cutter previous to this that did both 45 and 90 degrees but there was no way to control the depth so I ended up cutting through the mat I was cutting AND the old off cut mat I was using under it to protect the work table, sometimes scratching the table underneath. So after that bad experience I decided to buy a 4000 Logan Hand Mount cutter and this 500 mat knife.The difference of having the correct tool for the job makes life much easier. In my opinion money spent on very cheap plastic cutters is just wasted, mine were just thrown in the bin.

I have the Logan Mat cutter, but sometimes have to make cuts in the board by hand if outside the size of the cutter, or if something goes wrong ie operator error.Feel I can easily do so with this knife.
