I would strongly recommend it.
I am very happy with the cutting result. I put cardboard beneath the mat boards. It is easy to hold and to cut. The mat board might move around a bit, so do not cut too fast, pay more attention to holding on tight. Also, if you have thick cardboard like me, it does not hurt to set the cut a bit deeper than necessary. If you expect your mat to be perfect, I do recommend some practice. When you first push the blade down, if the mat is thick and tough, the blade might push your hand backwards; so it is important to try and get used to it. I personally do not care much. If the mat does not look good enough, I just use paint to cover the problems up. To order one mat online may cost me 30 or 40 dollars. I already cut 5 mats so far and I am very happy to be able to save the money.

Great product 👌
This product is well made, substantial, easy to read, and very sturdy. I especially like that the cutter can be set in a ridge to keep it up tight against the straight edge, so it will not go off track, and yet even though it is secured, it can be easily moved. Shipping was well boxed and arrivedin great condition. Great job Logan.

You might need a TEAM to hold the rail
It’s great for the price, considering the cost difference for better mat cutters. I do love Logan products, but this is a little hard to use as one person. Maybe that’s why they call it “team system”… I feel like I need someone to hold down the rail while I slide the cutting blade. I use it to cutand mat mostly 24” posters, and I’ve had some pretty good results. The bevel guide line is accurate and the rail has a little bit of grip to help it not slide.

No blades in this kit
The box says it includes a set of 5 blades but there were no blades in the box. I ordered a replacement thinking the second box would finally come with the blades, but again the second order didn’t come with any. If the blades are removed from each box on purpose, it should be called out front and center on the product listing so that people know they have to buy blades separately if they’re planning to use this product as soon as it arrives.Edit: tried contacting the seller to ask if Logan 270-10 would fit, because the listing says Logan 270 and when I searched for that, those blades look different than the ones in the instruction videos. I never heard back, so I bought the 270-10 anyways and it did work. Overall the products works well and is simple to use. Great for my hobbyist needs. I just wish there was a bit more transparency with the listing and a little more product support.

Cuts a beautiful, beveled mat.
Very easy to use. Measure and mark carefully and with the cutter locked in the straight edge you’ll have a perfect mat. The instructions are clear, and there is a short instructional video on the Logan website. It’s inspired me to frame pictures piling up that I’ve been meaning to mat and frame for a long time.

Love it!
I’ve been working on some art projects recently including framing them myself and this mat board cutting system is awesome! I don’t understand why framing stores charge an arm and leg! It’s not that hard. The key is to make sure you’re always using a super sharp blade! As always double and triple check your measurements before cutting and make sure the diagonal cutting blade is in the correct orientation for your final look. If you plan to do several projects this is an essential tool!

Excellent Beveled Mattes
After practice on at least three mattes to learn how to use this beveled matte system, it works perfectly as I am preparing for a show of my drawings. The archival mattes fit perfectly with museum quality! The best matte system for framing I have ever found.

This is a well made product and is quite easy to use once you do a little practice. The rule and bevel cutter work well together and even as a beginner I have been able to produce clean cuts to form the window in the mat board. However, I not impressed with the straight cutter provided. It is basically a cutting knife that runs along, but doesn’t attach to, the rule. I have found this very difficult to use. Despite trying a number of times I have not been able to consistently produce clean straight cuts. As a result I went and bought a Logan 701-1 Straight Cutter which locks onto the rule. This works very well and I was instantly able to produce very clean straight cuts. But it is disappointing that the supplied straight cutter that came with this mat cutter didn’t work well and I had to spend an extra $85 in order to achieve the results I wanted. So if you are buying this product be aware that the straight cutter supplied may not be ideal. If you can master it, then that’s great, but be prepared for the possibility of having to buy a better straight cutter. Now that I also have the 701-1 straight cutter I am happy with what I have and confident that I can now cut professional looking mounts, it is disappointing though that Logan don’t supply a better straight cutting option as part of this product. Also be aware that you can adjust the depth of the blade on the bevel cutter by turning a small screw on the bottom of the cutter. I didn’t see any reference to this in the supplied instructions but it is shown in the Logan video on Youtube (which I would recommend watching anyway)

Great product making it easy to cut out picture mounts. Read the instructions and you can’t go wrong.

I found the instructions helpful and could start using the cutters immediately. I did not expect this and it was very encouraging. I was disappointed however, in terms of the blade performance on mount board. I realise that even, firm pressure is required when cutting this type of material but I didn’t think that the blades coped at all despite the many attempts to perfect. Initially I thought I was trying to cut a large scale mount too early and so tried a smaller scale mount, but still the finish was not as professional as I had hoped. Even when I thought I had achieved the perfect cut, there were areas that the blade had not cut through and on removing the centre which was to be discarded the card tore the outer paper of the outside mount – very frustrating. I am sure that the system will work fine with thinner materials but mount board is listed in this product’s capabilities.
