Great for Beginners and Intermediate Seamstresses!
I bought this for my daughter in law. I bought her a sewing machine last Christmas and taught her to use it, and she’s been making home decor items, using an old book I gave her for guidance, for several months. I thought she’d enjoy this book. It has a hard cover, and it is spiral bound, so the book will sit flat, enabling the user to follow the directions and refer to the book easily. It is excellent for a non-expert seamstress. (Yes, I know “seamstress” is archaic, but, to me, the word “sewer” brings images of wastewater, etc, to mind. I mean no offense.) It goes through different types of stitches and fabrics, and has how-to directions, with pictures for many things, including different types of throw pillows, curtains, draperies, duvet covers, tablecloths, place mats, napkins, etc. Suggested fabrics for each type of project are included. I scanned this book pretty carefully before wrapping it for Christmas, and I know my daughter in law will enjoy it as she decorates the house she and my son just bought!

Best home sewing guide
I own 6 or more other books on home sewing but there’s always some critical info missing. This one is by far the best I have found and I am an experienced sewer and graphic designer.This is a full color, handy spiral bound book packed with detailed information, many and great drawings and photographs on making anything from drapes, curtains and pillows of all styles and the fabric selection with designer tips on finishing.There is also a lengthy list of suppliers with information on how to contact them.If you are planning to try to make drapes, curtains or pillows yourself this book is good for beginners and experienced sewers. Highly recommend it.

Essential book for any home sewer
This book is laid out well, with easy to follow instructions and a wealth of information on everything from fabrics, sewing supplies and sewing techniques. I think this would be easy for beginners who want to get into sewing things for the home. I find it very helpful, I cannot recommend this book enough.

This book appears to be just what I need. I do not sew but I recently brought a sewing machine. I have lots of questions, so I needed a tool to start with. This books appears to be just what I am looking for.

Amazing small book, the author left no detail out of it. Very clear instructions, nice drawings and pictures. As an add on, I found the fabric section specially useful. Can’t wait to start a new project!
