Great for the price
Just got these today. Came as pictured and described. For the price, not bad. They do feel like they are on the cheaper side but for kids it will work. I also like that there is a ‘lock’ so you can’t erase if you accidentally press the button. My kids love it!

Super cool pad
These things are super cool! My kiddos definitely enjoy them I will not say or not say that you didn’t catch me drawing on them as well. But there are definitely cool You can also write with things like your nails. The rainbow color is awesome as well. The one thing that I did not like was the pin caddy after just a week it no longer fits tightly so stringing it on to the pad with the string it comes with is a must.

How-to information for the gift-giver
Our LCD writing board was packed with a 3-pound bag of food on top of it. Not a great customer service, Amazon! Despite that, the board works perfectly. I opened the writing board box and shreds of the packing plastic fell out. The board came with what I discovered is an extra CR2016 3-volt lithium battery which was loose in the writing board’s box (safety hazard if a young child gets it). Thinking it was shipped with the battery outside of the case, I used an eyeglasses screwdriver to open the battery case drawer. Be sure to do this somewhere (like a tabletop *away* from the edge) that if the screw drops, you will be able to find it in this century. : ) The screw is as tiny as possible. The switch to make the board unerasable is on the back and works great. Next, how do I REMOVE the STYLUS??? Based on another review that said to pull it straight up and out, I dug my fingernails under the back end of the stylus and yanked with moderate force. That was the trick. The stylus tip is in a protective hole. The back end (if it were a pencil, the eraser end) has to come out first. It also came with a stretchy cord. To attach the cord, first put one loop through the stylus end and bring the rest of the cord over the stylus and through the loop. Pull snug. Second, put the other loop through the hole on the writing board (I did this from the back of the board). Bring the stylus over the board edge and down through the loop. The bead will come through the hole, too, when you pull the loop snug. If you attach the cord to the writing board first, you won’t be able to attach it to the stylus. To place the stylus back in its holder, put the tip into the tip hole. Align the back end to the slot. I was careful to keep the cord out of the slot, but I don’t know if that matters. I used the pinky end of my fist and gave the stylus a quick tap. It snapped right into the slot. The actual writing area is 9 inches by 6.75 inches. I think that is plenty big. It can be held either way – portrait or landscape orientation. Just don’t accidently squeeze the erase button while holding the edge. My only concern is that there is no power switch. The box promises me the battery life is about two years. Since it is on All the time, two years will be a nice surprise. That extra battery is appreciated! I haven’t given this to the child yet. It is best on a holiday morning to have the toy all set up ready to use, so that’s what I just did. I’m glad I spent some time preparing it for fun, fun, fun!

Writes well, but product could be better
I ordered 2 twin packs. One of the boards barely erases and is finicky if it will erase on the first try without you having to hit the button multiple times. The other three write and erase great. I don’t love is that the pens are a little difficult to remove from their place and there doesn’t seem to be a way to tie the pen to the board with it still being able to click into its placeholder.

A tale of 4 LCD Boards….
I purchased 4 different LCD tablets as gifts for the holidays…. One for my 6 year old to practice his letters and spelling, one for my toddler (because of course he wants everything his big brother has), one as a Toys For Tots gift, and one for myself because I got a lightning deal and it was hard to pass up. I had no experience with LCD boards going into this so it took me a minute to realize there was no “ON” button- you just start writing. I suppose I assumed they were backlit. At any rate, I tried all 4 boards out right away so I could see which ones worked best. All of them have perks, some being better than others. The brightest tablet in the group was the Newest board (orange), however it also picked up secondary marks from my hand the easiest. Still, this was my favorite out of the 4 boards and the one I chose for my 6 year old because he’ll be using the board the most for school and fun. The Mafiti and NEWYES boards were 2nd in brightness, with the Mafiti producing thinner lines and the Mafiti also came as just a board with no extras. This was also the cheapest board of the group with a lightning deal pricing it around $6. I got this one for myself as a list board and I think it will be fine for that. The NEWYES board was the only board that came with a lanyard and in my opinion this is the most useful accessory and I’d rather have this over the spare batteries some of the boards came with. My least favorite board is the Sunany board, although it came with the most accessories, including a screwdriver to remove the tiny screw for the battery compartment and a spare pen in case you lose one. While all of the boards are most dim in low-light conditions, this one was the dimmest of the four. All the boards brighten up and are easier to read when you’re in a well-lit room. Attached is a photo of the Sunany board both in low light and high light conditions. If I were to recommend any board of these 4 for a child, I’d definitely go with the Newest board, with the NEWYES as the runner up. I hope my review was helpful for someone out there who’s on the fence about which board to purchase 🙂

A great product that appeals to children who are growing up with tablets. Used in occupational therapy sessions, we use these board to practice drawing and writing skills. Two boards means that I can draw on one board as a model for the child.
