    Long finger nails
I have long, stiletto-shaped nails, so my first priority was finding a product that will accommodate my finger tips- regardless of length, thickness, or shape of the nail at any point in time. I selected this option, because I was just experimenting with different types of thimbles, hoping to compare and contrast a variety of styles and eventually uncover what works best for me. So I was expecting to get what I paid for- and the price for these definitely seemed too-good-to-be-true. But I was very surprised by how impressed I was with this product!Easily adjustable to fit and remain snug on any finger- not just thumbs!Great sturdiness to hold needles in place when sewing through thicker fabrics. These thimbles will last a very long time. I will definitely reorder this item in the future (but it will be in the faaaaaar future, because I cannot imagine how to do any damage to them. The metal used is very good quality, it is thick and strong enough to where it will not bend or lose shape) I am more likely to lose all 4 thimbles and need to replace a pack before even 1 of them would naturally need to be replaced at all.

    Perfect fit, comfortable to use
I certainly had reservations about ordering these thimbles. If they had not been so inexpensive, I’m not sure I would have even tried this style. I have been sewing for more than 60 years, and that’s about how long I’ve been looking for even an acceptable thimble. The traditional ones simply have never worked for me. They are uncomfortable, awkward, and ineffective. I thought I had tried just about every kind of thimble available, and never found one I thought was great. The one that came closest to working well was the thimble that is a metal disk, with dimples on it, and with little round sticky pads that allow you to stick the thimble on the end of your finger. I’ve used those for years but have not been totally satisfied with them because the sticky pads have to be replaced so frequently, and they still allow the thimble to slip around on my finger. I finally decided to research thimbles one more time. This thimble that I purchased on Amazon, the one that is open on one side, is a design I have often seen but have dismissed without even trying. I do not have long nails, and I really thought this thimble would not fit well and would not stay in place well. However, out of desperation, I decided to try the ones on this site. I read reviews in which customers complain that the thimble is hard to adjust, requiring needle nose pliers. I have not found that to be true. The ones I received were very easy to adjust, but not so easy that I have to worry about the shape not holding during use. I was concerned that the fit would not be comfortable, because I have a writer’s bump on my thimble finger, and on the other side of that same finger, I have a cist that is about the same size as the writer’s bump. I was sure that the thimble would not fit, or that even if it did, it would hit right at those bumps, be uncomfortable, and not stay on my finger during use. I have experienced none of these problems. The thimble stays on while I’m sewing, it fits comfortably, and it is not at all awkward to use, as I had feared. I think I have finally found the thimble that is perfect for me. No more nasty sticky pads to deal with, and no more thimble slipping around or falling off my finger during use. I’m glad Amazon sold this package with two small and two medium thimbles. I would have guessed that I would need a medium, but that is not the case. The small is the perfect fit for my hand. It’s nice to have two, in case I misplace one. I hope this review helps someone else who has been searching for a comfortable and effective thimble.

    Very Good!
I like that they can be altered in size to fit more than one finger, as I may use them on different fingers depending on my project. One star subtracted for the sharp edges, which I smoothed with a file.

    How to use them
Very good. I like them very much.

    Good but too small.
4 Pack Sewing Thimble Finger Protector, Adjustable Finger Metal Shield Protector. It’s sturdy but quite small. I have small hands and it barely fits. I received ugly blackish ones, instead of the gold ones as pictured. I’ll keep them because they serve their purpose. Would I buy it again? Probably not.

A different use… Protect my finger nail
I bought these to use when I need to open tiny necklace clasps. I put on a thimble instead of breaking a finger nail. These thimbles are shaped similar to a finger nail.

    work as expected
    metal and work as expected

  8. JMBel08

    Neat thimble alternative
I have longer nails so a traditional thimble doesn’t work for me. I got these to at least cover my fingertip, which it does. I’ve had a bit of difficulty getting them to adjust the way I want, so they don’t stay put as well as I’d like. They do help me to not poke my fingers with the needles anymore though

Inexpensive and good quality, but even the small one is very large, I had to make it a lot smaller so that it fits my finger, once in place it’s comfortable and it protects my finger from the needle tips when I knit. I should have bought much earlier. I recommend.

I hand embroidered so many quilts & the thimbles just never worked for me this “this” will.

  11. Ian M.

Just what I was hoping for, the thimbles are clean, easily adjustable, and I have no doubt they will do what they were designed to do when the time comes. What I order them again, yes.

  12. Lesley Perkins

They’re a little bit small for my thumbs and forefingers, but they work

I’ve been doing some end of season mending on heavy fabrics (think parka, backpack). Thimbles help so much! These are quite comfortable and don’t have to go on your thumb. Plus they’re pretty to look at.
