One of the best constructed racks I’ve seen. Almost the perfect rack for 1kg filament.
I have a lot of filament racks from various manufacturers and this one is definitely one of the most solidly constructed I’ve seen. This is one of those cases where you just get an immediate sense that it is higher quality from average from the second you open the package and see how things are arranged to prevent damage and the large, easy to read glossy instruction sheet. Basically, nothing about this feels cheap in any way. Additionally, the metal itself is quite sturdy and thicker than others I have dealt with. By weight, I’d say this is probably about twice as heavy as other filament racks I own of similar size, which is a good thing. Furthermore, the casters are about 1/4″ wider than is typical and slightly larger diameter than usual for this size cart, which means it should actually be able to handle the advertised weight and still be able to roll. The spacing on the shelves is just as it should be width-wise for 1kg filament reels and it has a center cross bar that can be placed at any rack level if you need to use the smaller 200g-250g reels. Assembly only took me about 15-20 minutes and was simple enough that instructions really were not even needed, though the large size of the ones that are included is a definitely plus and much appreciated by these old eyes. Also on the note of assembly, this thing went together TIGHT. There was none of the looseness or play common with other racks and nothing was warped. The tolerances on this rack are definitely a notch above what I typically see. That all being said, there are 2-3 minor things that keep this from being perfect. The first of which is that the side rails need to come up about 1-2 inches higher on the sides, so that they protrude enough above the top level of rods to keep filament from getting bumped or knocked off. The other is that the vertical spacing, while almost perfect for bare 1kg filament reels, would be better if it was also about 1-2″ further apart, as a lot of us also like to store filament on racks while it is still in the box. Additionally, although not an advertised feature, while my 5kg rolls of filament actually do fit, they stick up high enough that the reels on the rack above them can’t sit down fully. That is just my personal take and VERY minor criticisms that would improve the product (basically, if they increased the vertical spacing by about an inch, this would also work really well for 5kg filament and boxed 1kg filament). I also wish they had included fixed feet in addition to the casters, though as I obviously own a few 3D printers and the mounting screw size is standard, it should be no major issue to print my own (as in this case, I plan to leave this in a permanent spot).Overall though, for 1kg filament reels, this is by far one of the best built racks I’ve seen. It is a bit more expensive than average, but quality costs money and, in this case, I’d say the extra is worth it.

    Almost 5 stars
Well built and one of the heavier filament racks I tried. Most are in the $40 range and this on in the $50+ range. Would be a solid 5 stars if was a few dollars cheaper. Holds 40 1 kg rolls. Wheels are good quality. Took about 20 minutes to assemble by myself.

    Good enough
This is basically just a shoe rack that they have re-packaged as a 3D printer fillament rack, but hey, it actually works. If you are storing your rolls of filament out in the open like this, you’ll want to have them vacuum packed – don’t just leave them on the shelf like the image shows (unless you plan on drying them before use every single time, which can cause some issues with older fillament). If you go through a lot of filament or rotate your stock often this should be fine. Overall its not bad way to store filament and is decently made, so if this is the style you want, go for it.

From a mess to orderly filament in a hurry
Two days ago I had an awful filament mess, with spools stacked haphazardly on the bar, on the flood, on the table, in the chairs. Now, thanks to this awesome filament rack, I have an orderly Library O’Filament! This filament rack is compact, but as you can see, it holds a lot of filament. Even though I put a lot on it, there’s still room for more. As you can see in my photos, the first thing you see when you open the box is a giant laminated instruction sheet. How refreshing is that? But while I really appreciate that, the instructions were not particularly helpful. The printing turned out in a way that you can’t see the detail they’re pointing to.The good news is that all you really need is the big picture showing the layout of the rack. It’s super logical and straightforward to assemble. Everything fit together perfectly. (As they do point out in the instructions, it’s best to get things assembled loosely at first, then tighten all the screws)The construction is very sturdy, from the verticals to the horizontal tubes to the casters. I’ve seen this style of furniture before that’s made out of really lightweight steel, but that’s not the case here. It’s all of a sufficiently heavy gauge of steel that it will easily hold a full load of filament without issue. If you have a mess of filament spools on your hands, this compact rack will help you fix that at a very affordable price and 15-20 minutes of assembly time.Five stars all the way. Recommend!

A very solid filament storage option
The first thing I noticed when unboxing this was the massive laminated instruction sheet. It’s like something you would attach to a wall. Despite its size, the instructions were not that good. You still have to figure out which size of bolt to use on which parts. Hint: the long bolts go on the casters, everything else uses the short ones.Assembly, once I figured it out, was time consuming but simple. The crossbars have two parts that need to be fastened together. Rather than welding on the threaded insert, they are freestanding (image 2). As a result, as you screw one side you might be unscrewing the other. To get them somewhat centered, you need to put one of them half way in, then hold it in with your fingernail or something while you screw in the opposite pole. While the setup was a bit of a pain, I think the final result is really impressive. The frame is rigid, the casters are high quality, and I’m able to store all of the filament I have plus have room to spare. The top shelf is great for drying boxes or any other accessories you want to put on it. There is some level of customization, as you can put the rods in different holes. All around, I’m really happy to have this and I’d give this a solid 4.5/5.
