The Outdoor Cookbook I Didn’t Know I Needed
I bought Camp & Picnic Feasts before a weekend camping trip with friends, and it instantly upgraded the whole experience. No more boring hot dogs or crushed sandwiches—we actually made real meals over the fire and even tried a no-cook wrap recipe during a hike. Super simple and really tasty. What I liked most is how this book covers everything: campfire meals, one-pot options, no-cook stuff for hot days, even desserts and drinks. The ingredient swaps and packing tips were especially helpful for someone like me who doesn’t camp every weekend but still wants to eat well outdoors.Full-color photos, clear instructions, and zero fluff. If you’re into camping, road-tripping, or even just backyard hangouts, this book is totally worth it.

A great book for outdoor cooking.
The Camp & Picnic Feasts book has become my go-to book for cooking delicious and varied meals outdoors. The recipes are divided into easy-to-follow sections: cold appetizers, grill and campfire, one-dish meals, desserts and beverages. There are plenty of tips on menu planning, packing, food storage, and ingredient substitutions, which is especially valuable for traveling where options are limited. It’s nice that each recipe is accompanied by clear instructions and appetizing photos. And I liked that there are pages for notes.

    Useful and Clear
A nicely laid out cookbook with a detailed table of contents and clear recipes that include nutritional information. The photos are nice as well.An intro on gear and setup is notably absent. A rundown of what to pack, tools to bring, and how to cook safely outside would’ve made this a more complete offering. However, with respect to meals, the book delivers what it promises. It’s a great fit for casual campers, road trippers, and outdoor cooks who value ease over complexity.

    Excellent cookbook!
“Camp and Picnic Feasts is a fantastic cookbook that’s both inspiring and practical. It’s packed with a wide variety of delicious recipes perfect for outdoor adventures, from easy-to-make classics to creative new ideas. One of the best things about this book is the abundance of beautiful photos that make you want to try everything. The instructions are clear and approachable, making it easy to plan meals that impress whether you’re camping, picnicking, or just enjoying a meal outside. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food and the great outdoors!”

Nothing new, but with the wrong photos & bad formatting!
The good: the photos are pretty. The bad:1. The photos are NOT indicative of what you’ll be making. The focus on the food photography was clearly beauty, not to show you what you’re likely to end up with. Example: the sausage breakfast hash. The picture shows two Italian sausage links neatly sitting on top of rice. The ingredients are crumbled or diced sausage, eggs, and diced potatoes.2. The ebook version is NOT formatted as an ebook. It looks like they just exported the file for it print edition as a pdf rather than created a version that can be easily viewed on phones or ereaders. You have to zoom in and pan around to see the ingredients and instructions. This is annoying.3. There is nothing new or creative or exciting about that recipes. You can easily get the same recipes all over the internet and in nearly any camping cookbook – with more realistic photos and an easier navigation.

    A buffet of ideas
From snacks and ready-made ideas to one-pot wonders and drinks, this book will give you many recipes to flip through and choose from.Every page delivers a colored picture with prep and cook times, servings, a list of ingredients, and instructions, along with per-serving nutritional values.

  8. JDP

    Full of great ideas!
Sometimes summer gets me overwhelmed instead of excited for the opportunities to be outside and enjoy!! This book helped kick start my family summer fun! This is great and full of ideas and recipes and so much info!

  9. Eryn

This is a handy little cookbook if you’re after simple, no-fuss meals for camping or picnics. Most of the recipes are quick to prep, family-friendly, and don’t require much equipment, perfect for when you’re juggling hungry kids and a campfire. That said, there’s not a lot of fresh or groundbreaking ideas here. It’s more of a go-to collection of tried-and-true meals you’ve probably made before in some form.We did enjoy a few of the foil pack recipes, and the make-ahead cooler meals helped us stay organized. It’s great if you’re new to camping or just want a bunch of ideas in one place, but if you’ve done a lot of outdoor cooking, you might not find much you haven’t already tried. Still a solid resource, just not overly inventive.
